ISTANBUL/ADANA
After arriving in Istanbul, board another plane for a short flight to
Adana. After arriving in Adana, transfer to hotel.
ADANA/ANTAKYA (ANTIOCH) /TARSUS
After breakfast, drive for a full visit to Antakya,
where Jesus followers were first called Christians in the Grotto of St.
Peter. The first Christian Church was established here. Visit St.
Peter 's Church and the famous archeological museum containing a
collection of magnificent Roman mosaics. Continue to Tarsus, birthplace of
St. Paul and also the industrial and cultural center of the Roman and
Byzantine Empires. View the ruins of ancient remains. Tarsus was held by Arabs, Byzantines, Crusaders, and Mamelukes. After this tour check-in to hotel.
TARSUS/NIGDE/KAYSERI/URGUP
Breakfast, then drive to the small town of Nigde,
noted for medieval buildings; continue to Kayseri, the former capital of
the Cappadocia Region. See the many magnificent mausoleums and the
colorful bazaars. The region of Cappadocia is a geological wonder where more
than 1000 years ago man carved dwellings and Christian churches. The
incredible cathedrals were created by nature’s erocion. The cave dwellers
who lived there had their own standard of civilization. Then continue to
the village of Urgup where you will check into your hotel for the evening.
GOREME
Following
breakfast, depart for the conical countryside in the Goreme valley. The center
of Cappadocia is a 50 square mile area of tumbeld terrain, a semi lunar
landscape of canyons and eroded pinnacles of volcanic rock, pocked with
hewn doors and wındows. Civilization after civilization has sought refuge
from persecution in the caves. Carving entire communities from the soft
volcsanic pinnacles, these cones and cliffs reveal an unearthy beauty, many
wearıng caps of hard stone, other coming to a sharp point. 300
rock-carved churches, known as the land of the fairy chimneys can be seen
in this area. Visit
the interesting churches embelished wıth sacred frescoes, the gigantic
needle of ortahisar, the Caravanserai Agzikarahan dating from the 12th
century. Following your tour return to your hotel in Urgup for the
